my brother just got home and he wore his outside clothes to school. they were supposed to "express themselves". however, they were several rules that should be followed: "no bling blings, no shorts, no jerseys". How could you express yourself freely if that is so?
he was wearing a blue shirt and jeans. i asked him, "so, this is yourself?" he said, "yeah". i paused for a while and it got me thinking, does wearing your type of clothes conclude an expression of self?? at times, we are just covered by good fabric, colors and prints that we forgot who we truly are. the real expression of self lies in being strip naked. i don’t mean to be rude here. but if you appreciate what you are without sparkling gems and jimmy choos, without a shirt on and pink tints on your face, it is then that you can freely express who you really are. It is then that you shine. I call it self esteem.
it is only when you embrace the ugliness in you that you can be truly beautiful.
