did you turn off your lights?

Last night was Earth Hour. We were supposed to turn off our lights for 1 hour at 8:30 to 9:30 PM. This was Mother Earth's cry for her sad little inconsiderate children to conserve energy.
.
Well, did you?
.
Last night we turned our lights off. We listened to Bombo Radyo for updates regarding this Earth Hour. The reports reflected the fact that some people are oblivious to this campaign. Is this another outcome of a poor, decaying system we have?! Jeez! Even our street lights were on! I thought this is a goverment campaign! They can order a street lights-off hour! That way, people can rembember its Earth Hour (if they have known in the first place). I thought we were the only house in our block with dormant electricity that 60 minutes of supposed to be world enery saving.
.
I wonder how's the other side of the world doing. If the Philippines held the record of most people compliant to Earth Hour (considering what I saw last night), how poorly did the others do? People! Wake up! We can't deny that we are not doing much to our environment. What's an hour of darkness? (sigh..) If we continue to be indifferent, then we are just preparing the worst future for our kids. Sounds too blah and eekish but it's inevitable. Nevertheless, I feel proud that we participated in Earth Hour. We were one of the Filipinos who helped set that record..hehe!
.
OK.. Kadamo naman sa akon wakal, kagamay sang topic..hehe! Anyway, off to the funny part. You know frecklesnoots, when it's dark, you only see things on your mind. And of course, what's on my mind are things that frequent me for months now..The DH things..little by little, it has become a world now..hehe! It's good that its dark, since no one can see my random smiles! And I don't even have to cover my mouth this time! haha!
.
Another thing was, when we were in the terrace, we saw someone pee-ing at a car across the street. I told shoti to go "Psst!" the guy. And since I was on headphones listening to my music, I didn't know he "Psst!" the guy! haha! I wondered why he looked on our direction while Shoti ducked down! Lucky enough, They guy did not completely turned his head or else, he'll see me there standing, thinking that I was the one who "Psst!" him while I was singing along to Barry Manilow's Somewhere Down the Road! Hay katunto nga bata! (PS: What's sitsit in english?! haha!)
.
That's it for now...hehe!
.

servien's 200% rock-out party!!

.
what: Servien Christi Mariae 2008 200% Exclusive Party
.
where: Bourbon Street Red Room, Smallville
.
when: March 21, 2008, 8 PM
.
requirements: be in party mood and have fun, fun, fun!!
.
.
This party was long awaited! And thanks to Marian, who said that we owe this to ourselves and the rest of the party team, we had a blast that night! The party was supposed to be held in El Dorado Pool but unfortunately, our swimming hype was cut off and we had to change venue.
.
If I haven't chatted with Nang Kim on one of our TV Tuesday reviews then I would not have known that the venue changed! haha! I thought she's wrong at first but when I checked my Globe SIM, I have an SMS from Marian informing us that the venue changed! haha! My Globe SIM is just for GCash purposes to that explains why I got the message after a day...haha!
.
That Saturday, I still have classes for Graduate School at 4 PM. I also helped with the checking of papers at the "review center office" (haha). I got home at around 6:30 and I rushed to get dressed since our car is leaving and I just want to be dropped off Bourbon Street since I got no one to go there with me.
.
When I arrived, there were already a few who got there ahead of me. Registration already started and the party mood was set. Soon after, I was going around getting photos and letting people sign my yearbook..(I feel like Melissa Joan Hart in Can't Hardly Wait! haha!)
.
The party was fun! And as always, Bourbon's ribs did not fail me. It's the yummiest ribs I've tasted! Yum yum! We enjoyed cheering for the games! Nona and Isabel were the crowd favorites! haha! They have to shoot the straw from their mouth to the softdrink bottles clutched in the middle of the guys' legs!
.
Sir Palomar also sang! haha! It was supposed to be a duet with Ms. Cormary but she just served as the cheerleader and "the lady by the side".. haha! We were all surprised by her revelation after the song! hahaha! The crowd went wild! Well, somewhere in the singing, there lies a hint of the past..(wink!)
.
And who would forget Nona's spanish singing?! haha! She sang Rihanna's Umbrella in spanish! beat that! The crowd also sang along.."larara larara eeeh..lalala..." Singing without understanding! haha! we just mumbled random words to make it sound spanish! just wave your hands guys! hahaha!
.
This is also the first time since ever that the royalties were complete at one event! With our super separate lives, we can hardly get together just like old times! So then, we missed much of the fun inside since we were just there outside, free from all those noxious cigarette smokes and just chatting our hearts away! Also remembered when videos were shown and a group of American girls were on the video and someone said "Royalty! Royalty!"..Aawww..hehe! We also enjoyed playing with the camera! You can view our party photos here. For the other fun stuffs inside, check out Frankie's blog.
.
Everybody had fun that night! Andrew can't stop dancing! haha! Even if we were outside, I can see his shoulders moving to the beat! haha! Check out Frankie's blog! haha! Oh well, even if we weren't that much that momentous evening, the Servien spirit was still there, especially when we sang our batch song. There were also fireworks, courtesy of Evil Ian thereafter. Cupcakes were made as candles and it just adds to the festive touch! hehe! WE DID IT GUYS!!! Victory is ours! (evil laugh) hehehe!
.
And again, I'm so proud to belong in this family! We all deserve this success! Surely, the rain that had once made us BLUE, turned our meadows to GREEN! (Credits to Don Garcia for this line..Pahulam anay...hehehe! I'll link your poem here if it's done..Promise!) Kudos Servien! Cheers to more success parties in the future!
.
I got home at 2:30 in the morning..Tired but happy! And oh! I love my dress that night! haha! Another online find from Bizteeda.
.
See you when I see you! Love you lots! Missing you already!

too hot to handle

Who says only Michael Phelps can reap medals?

.
hehehe!
.
Last Sunday, JJ graduated in Elementary. It was held in Emilion Roadhouse. The ceremony was fun- from the humor of Dr. Torralba, their commencement speaker to the valedictory speeches and the graduation songs.
.
Only three of them in Elementary has special awards and that explained why he looks like this in the picture. There was another awardee from the 4th year that had a short talk with their speaker as he was awarded with his medals. One question and answer per medal. Just imagine how many his medals and awards were!
.
JJ got 6 medals in total for his academic, sports and literary awards. He also got a 3000 peso scholarship in which he has already cashed out of Papa's wallet. I can remember I even fished out one yellow bill from his money. Papa said, share your blessings, so he gave me one, in which my brother got pissed at! hahaha! Gusto niya ya, iya lang gid tanan! I also remembered Papa was supposed to give him loose bills for his 100 peso bill and he handed over the 200! hahaha! His face turned sour! haha!
.
Well, anyway, this marked the end of my week long gluttony! and what a finale! Batchoy at 5 pm, Buffet dinner at 8! We were giving ourselves tummy massages after the meal! Burp!
.
At the end of the day, I was one proud (and busog) achi!
.
Love and bliss!

week long gluttony

Last Saturday: more than a half of Perri Todd's Burger

.
Sunday: Tatoy's (I consumed 1 order of Oysters just by myself! ha!)
.
Monday: Tatoy's left overs
.
Tuesday: One Tree Hill and Pizza (What?! I consider OTH food...soul food! haha!)
.
Wednesday: Spaghetti for snacks, Al Dente's Tenderloin Steak for dinner
.
Thursday: McDonald's for snacks, Breakthrough for dinner (Oyster monster as I am, I ate almost half of the plate), Red Ribbon for dessert
.
Today: Fasting- No Meat on Fridays of Lent
.
Saturday: will be at Bourbon Street for Servien's Batch Party (Mmm..Ribs!)
.
Sunday: Who knows? It's JJ's graduation. hehe.. (He's graduating as First Honorable Mention by the way.. =) )
. .
Well, all these digested food must go somewhere nasty, right?! haha! No wonder my butt kisses the toilet almost every after meal yesterday..haha! But I guess all these eating will still not make me get lean into my system...sad...On the brighter side, I get to enjoy delicious sumptous meat and fresh seafoods! On the downside, I feel like my index finger brings back the pain whenever I open Oyster Shells! I can still see the very faint scar that one oyster shell left in my finger one oyster monster eating night! haha! A little labador was almost filled when I had to stop eating since my finger got cut..haha! Oh well..That's life...
.
Love and bliss!
.
And oh! I got another there-should-be-an-S word for you...Scallop! haha! they keep on saying that last night! tsk, tsk!

oh my dust!

"Mga how long natin pinaandar yung rainbow?"

.
(silence)
.
"Mga ilang seconds lang, noh?"
. .
Oh! I get it...Rainbow...the vacuum cleaner brand! haha! I thought they created a rainbow then the demo guy was checking on it..stupid! what was i thinking?! what will the rainbow do to dusts anyway?! haha! can't blame me! I was just awakened to see the demo.
.
Anyway, the "Rainbow demo guys" was here this morning for the demo of their product. I thought the vacuum cleaner was good. It uses water to clean the air not microfilters. In that way "dust can't escape when wet". It can "water-wash" the air then at the same time, sanitize, deodorize and aromatize it. Just place your favorite essential oil to the water then the scent will escape through the exhause. Aha! This may get rid of my darn rhinitis, i thought. Never knew dust could smell like apples or eucalyptus! haha!
.
They showed us every use of the different nozzles testing it on our pillows, screen doors, table, chairs, refrigerator top and floor. That was only a demo but when they let us see the water, it was horridly dirty! From crystal clear water it went black and little scums were floating on top!
.
But the thing that's stuck on my mind till now is when they vacuumed my matress. After a thorough encounter with the Power Nozzle, my mattress is allegedly clean and free from dust, dead skin and dustmites. (Dustmites eat dead skin by the way..Eek!) They changed the water before cleaning my matress and when it was done, the sight was just horrendous! My matress alone was nearly as dirty as our pillows, screen doors, table, chairs, refrigerator top and floor. Uulgh! Not only that but the filthy grey water has some kinda sort of flaky, frothy white specks floating on top. You guessed it! It's mah dead skin! Icky?! Yes it was. No wonder my nose itches always and I sneeze like there's no tomorrow until my head aches!
.
So much of this gunk I'm talking about.
.
Love and Bliss frecklesnoots!
.
P.S. We bought the Rainbow and...Happy Birthday to Papa!

pet peeves

These are several of my pet peeves - things that i cannot control being irritated or annoyed by.

.
In no particular order:
.
1. Boyfriend carrying the purse/shoulder bag of Girlfriend - excuse me, I assume Girlfriend is not that feeble not to carry her bag! And speaking for myself, I wouldn't bring something that I cannot carry myself. And it's not manly. Just being a gentleman? Nope.
.
2. Spine lines on my pocketbooks and page folds - most people who borrow my books already know this rule. I like to keep my books good as new. Things which violate this "principle" will definitely irritate me.
.
3. Folding the stapled part when turning over a page - gets? hehe! I don't like the edge of my stapled pages folded in the stapled part. basta amo na ah! hehehe!
.
4. Girlfriend playing "tantrums" on boyfriend. - may problema ka 'day?! Talk to your guy! Don't make a scene in Chowking. (hehe! it is in that place where I saw the most irritating girlfriend!) I cannot forget that scene. She doesn't wanna talk to the guy but when the guy left, she sent a friend to tell the guy to come back. Grr!!
.
5. People who tweak words - twenkies for thanks, shox for shocks (makes me think of Nike Shox, a shoe model), heller for hello, and the like - It's really OK to say it, just don't make me read it!
.
6. People who omit the letter 'S' when it shouldn't be- McDonald, Andok, Watson..I cannot even remember some!
.
7. People who place the letter 'S' when it shouldn't be - Coks anyone?
.
8. People who overreact - Overreact means screaming at the sight of something ordinary and not delighful at all or at a thought of something remembered. Overreacting means Tatiana del Torro
.
9. People who talk to me when I read, write or watch something - I just don't like people to disturb me when I'm concentrating, unless I wanna talk to you
.
10. People who linger at my back when I'm typing - I am not comfortable. Period.
.
11. Wrong grammar - I'm not the Grammar Godess but please, edit your work or practice that sentence.
.
12. Stars who CANNOT sing but still does it. - Please.. Just accept that you're not perfect! Do not damage my eardrums! I have still to watch American Idol and listen to decent music.
.
13. Late comers - Since when did 'Filipino Time' became official?
.
14. Smokers - There's nothing more disgusting than seeing a group who smokes "just because", worse if there's a lady.
.
15. Biting on a food then leaving it on the serving plate
.
16. Giving lengthy unecessary instructions
.
17. Pinoy cheap loveteams
.
18. Modern music that has no mesage at all, with rock beats on top of it.- Really? you call that music?
.
19. Indifference - To be honest, I also succumb to indifference most of the time but I make sure that when the situation calls for it, I am not the one to be called stupid and an idiot.
.
20. People telling me what do to and to do it fast - I have this quirk to do things my way..hehehe! And I don't want to be hurried if the situation doesn't desperately call for it.
.
21. Browsing government sites - One, I'm not the one who is interested, and Two until forever, our government sites are so BULOK!
.
22. Browsing sites for others if I'm not in the mood - what am I? a talking keyboard and mouse?
.
23. People who are inappropriately overlydressed - Two words- show off!
.
24. Nose lines - What are you thinking? Are you competing for Miss Gay? Why don't you put a dash of glitter along your nose bridge? That way, you'll look flashy instead of trashy!
.
25. People telling me "You've got no problem because you have money" -- Hello?! Duh! Don't you EVER tell me that! The only money I got which is mine is in my Gcash account and it's only about 700 pesos. The rest is my parents' and not mine. And besides, I was raised thinking I haven't got all the money in the world!
.
26. People telling others that they are fat even if they look like they need a meal. - One word of advice? Boost your self esteem!
.
27. People who don't anticipate. - This can be very annoying when you need to finish things pronto!
.
28. People who ask too much questions - Annoying! Most especially if I'm watching a movie or a TV show or doing something
.
29. Worriers who dump their trash on me - People! Relax!
.
30. Messy notebooks with arrows and circles everywhere
.
31. Lines, circles and other marks on my testpaper
.
32. People telling me do to their work for them even if they can do it themselves - usually irritates me if I'm doing something.
.
33. Closing up our store - This means rhinitis attack!
.
34. Failed technology at the time when you desperately need them
.
35. People who speak conyo - "Can you make sawsaw the fishball? Kamusta na you? OK naman me." Eeeekk!
.
36. People who have no originality - Imitation may be the best form of flattery..Not for me. I don't like people to like what I like. hehe. Seems selfish. I just wanna be different and unique. Maybe this is why I like the unusual. As Yan Yan said, the weirder the better!
.
.
Oh well, that's about it as memory serves me this time. Seems many? Well, these are most of it. I still know of some things which possess the power to annoy me depending on the situation..hehehe!
.
Maybe now, you may think I'm very hard to please or on second thought, I'm very critical and evil. Yes, I may be critical but I'm not hard to please if you know my tickle spot. Once you've hit the target, you break the shell forever. hahaha! Nah.. just give me a good conversation or show me a very good expression of art. hehehe!

crazy up and downs

irked and bored..not a good combination..

.
our internet connection has been down for almost a week now. I am not the most patient person in slow internet connections. The connection has been intermittent. I called up the PLDT DSL customer service this afternoon hoping that i could find the answers i'm looking for. well, I did not find it. what i found was myself, waddling knee deep in a puddle of my own nasal secretions. (i've always wanted to use this line after i got to read it from the book, "Why Do Men Have Nipples?"--fun, smart book!)
.
Translation? NOSEBLEED!! I am not really sure if it was from the techy lingo the personnel used when he guided me through the troubleshooting or it was me speaking in tagalog! I really tried to sound tagalog but i was not sure what accent came out. I kept the conversation more like "ok..ok..yup..naka check sya..ok..wait lang..then?..uh huh..hmmm..wait..yah..ok..wait..yup.." The "wait" part was me trying to decipher if I really know what I'm doing or I am just a dummie in technology! Of course I also injected a couple of full sentences in tagalog! (tongue out!)
.
Anyway, I'll keep this short since I am taking advantage of the "up" in the intermittent connection we have. (Apparently, there's nothing wrong with MIG and the signal in our area..Dunno what's wrong..)
.
I forgot to watch American Idol live! grr! I was doing some research for my grad school assignments during one of the "up" times of the connection earlier. (Can you believe it? 12 units na ko after a couple of weeks more! haha!) I just realized that I forgot to watch it as I heard Anoop Desai singing when my sister switched channels. And as I prepare to lift my butt up and go to the living room, Tito Nonoy had just grabbed the most powerful gadget of all and switched the channel. Shocks and smuckers! That was quick! My butt haven't even lifted a millimeter! I'm catching it now on primetime. (harhar)
.
I just wanted to say in additional that I was overwhelmed by the comments left in my previous post..hehe! You guys are right and I was also thinking the same. It's just that sometimes a shadow blinds you when you are down just as I said in my reply to your comments. But now, I'm up again..hehe! crazy girl! actually after I wrote that entry I already realized that there is so much good than there is bad. So, yeah..best of both worlds! thanks mucho!

the art of being solitary

ALONE

.
"We could be a beautiful, unbelievable miracle instead of just invisible..Like shadows of a faded light..I am invisible..." --- Invisible by Taylor Swift
.
This line from Taylor's song makes me just nod and smile in agreement. At times i feel like this shadow of faded light. I am alone. I wake up every morning, get to work on my laptop, chat for a few hours, watch a little TV then sleep. That's how solo my everyday bore is. Even my cellphone is mistaken for a mute since it seldom beeps messages from friends keeping in touch. And I mean REAL keeping in touch not just the usual forwarded quotes.
.
A little more years to come then maybe I can be a hermit; detached from the social world. (hehe!) But then again, maybe I am just born to be in this state. Even my relaxation oddity involves listening to old songs, reading a good book or writing. The point? They are solitary activities! How anti-social of me. Which made me think, maybe I am this evil witch who is killing every social scene there is in my past life, that's why I maybe "cursed" in this state. Its not that I refuse company. I love company. But I feel like there's this invisible force shield that I have yet to break (or maybe they should break).
.
LONELY
.
I'm single. Need I say more? 21 years of love life as clean as a pure white sheet of paper with no littlest piece of dust in it. (Told ya..Stupid Cupid is cruel on me.) I believe in destiny, soulmates, serendipity and all things love but skeptical as me, will it ever happen in real life? Will my ideals transform into teeny bits of reality?People always ask when will the right man come along? as for me, the question remains the same, will just a guy ever come along?? Unlucky me, Shallow Hals outnumber Lucas Scotts. You can read my post on From Bridesmaid to Beachbabe for its entirety...just click the link.
.
FORLORN
.
Aahh...The classic People Always Leave....By now, if you have traversed the entire Patches of Frecklesnoot journey (which I doubt you have), you may find out that I am the only one in my world which has the most monotonous routine of all-- be left and left alone. Oh yeah..People leave when i feel close to them. It's how cruel life can get. You get attached then it breaks you off. "Sometimes they come back"...I interpret that line along with the fact that even if they come back, they are not just the same as they left off. It's only "sometimes" that they are still the same person that they used to be. But then again, it's not their fault. Leaving where they want to go is the best thing to do. And I'm with them.
.
Not only that, I also realized that cousins of my generation are also mostly working abroad now. When Mama celebrated her birthday, most titas told me that "wala na di mga kabatch mo ho..ara na tanan sa gwa..dugay dugay ikaw naman"
.
There's nothing more hurtful than being left invisible. People might think you're fine that's why they don't bother to greet, invite, call, ask, give or just to be with. Little did they know that you want them to BOTHER. Its hard to explain. But maybe I just need the security of friends to find its way for everything to be back or to be the way it is. Or on second thought, I just want to feel that they need me too.

the writing's on the wall

I won an award in Panay News!

.
Of course not!
.
If ambition checks, awards in inter school or regional writing competitions remains to be a pipe dream..hehe! Well, actually, I have won an award when I was in high school. I think I lost my certificate for that. It was not a well cherished award since I was only forced to join the Filipino Essay Writing. I was never good in Filipino but sheer dumb luck made me won Second Place. Maybe because I formulate sentences in English first then by some power of the pen, it translated well into Tagalog..hehe!
.
I have been writing since Elementary. Writing had been a fascination for me at a young age. I was venturing into poetry first but I realized I didn't do much good in that. Well, I was not practicing much anyway..hehe! But it was not until high school when I got really intersted in writing. My tutor was the one who helped me discover the writer in me. (God forgive, I forgot her name!) After I finish my assignments, she would let me write anything I want from creative news stories, in which I get to choose the names of the victims and the slayers, to free essays. I still have the copies of those stories in my drawer! I remember creating the town of "Ghostlywitchaboo, Oreo" and some creature who eats their citizens..haha! I even made a doodle of the creature which I forgot the weird name I created myself..hehe!
.
I also remember my Chain days. Darn that school paper! I joined them as a Feature Editor when I was a senior in high school. I joined because of the primary reason that it will help me enhance my skills, blah..blah...and of course, new friends are a bonus. I was really excited to join them and I was proud of myself that I got in every screening. It was the first time that they had those screenings. What was just so bwisit about it is that we have no office, no computer, not even a typewriter and all the staffers must write news stories! I don't do news! I'm not good at it! I don't even know how to! And how am I supposed to know anything since we had zero workshops! (The advisers told us we will have some.) Unlucky me, I was expecting too much. If you know me that much, then you'll know that I complained. haha! I complained that why is it that the old Chain office was removed and was replaced by some crap laboratory. We were meeting in a vacant room instead. (I always wanted to belong in an organization with their own office. It looked dignified, for some sort of reason.) I complained big time on why do I have to write a freakin' news article when I am the Feature Editor! It was a dumb decision, i thought! Bal-an mo Feature Editor ko pasulaton mo ko ya news? Amo na gani sa Feature nyo ko ginbutang kay pigaw ko sa News! kag indi ko kabalo sang News! But then again, I'm not the boss so off I go with my lousy attempt at News Writing. And mind you, I got my article back with so much corrections! Told ya so! I was really fed up with the system! Bulok gid ya! We don't even have writers..only editors..d-uh! all of us held positions as editors...d-uh!
.
After this lousy experience, I was kind of discouraged to write again. In college, I was not able to join the school paper. Primary reason is that, I was afraid that if I join, my academics would sink beneath the Titanic. Second was that, my appetite in writing was lost. It was not until I was in second to third year when I got to write again. I started my Friendster Blog and it was a real outlet for me, most especially when I was in third year when all of the trouble you can imagine came right down for us. And when I was in fourth year, we started a friendship diary with the Royalty Girls (Whispers and Screams: the official diary of our laughs and cries). From then on, I just love blogging! hehe!
.
The diary hasn't been with me for months now so I'm just content with blogging. I just need to write my ramblings at times..hehe..And for those who have enjoyed reading my blogs, thank u mucho! I'll keep updating!
.
And oh, it was my brother who won the Panay News trophy. he got 2nd place in the regional news writing competition. trained...first timer...well, hard work pays..and sometimes it pays big with a yellow Ninoy bill! And all i get is raw, natural talent (or at least i think so..) what an envy!
.
